Selecting the proper steel shot material can optimize cleaning results, and this selection mainly depends on application scenarios and specific processing requirements.
Chemical Composition
High-quality steel shot shall comply with strict chemical standards: carbon content 0.8%–1.2%, manganese content 0.35%–1.2%, silicon content no less than 0.4%, while sulfur and phosphorus contents shall be controlled below 0.05%.
Physical Properties
Microhardness shall range from 390HV to 530HV; density shall not be lower than 7.0 g/cm³; total defective particles shall not exceed 40%; foreign impurities shall not exceed 1%; moisture content shall be kept below 0.2%.
Particle Size and Shape
Uniform particle size with predominantly polygonal shapes helps boost surface treatment efficiency and finish quality.
Surface Treatment Performance
Metal surfaces cleaned with steel shot shall meet international blast cleaning standards. Surface roughness shall be maintained between 25 μm and 150 μm to enlarge the metal surface contact area and enhance coating adhesion.
