Methods for Reducing Dust Generation in Shot Blasting Machines

Source Dust Suppression Technology

1. Optimized abrasive solution

   Use cast steel shot with sphericity above 85% to replace irregular iron grit, which can cut dust generation by 18% to 22%.

2. Sealing modification

   Install magnetic sealing strips at all joints of the blasting chamber, combined with a negative pressure holding system (pressure gradient: -50 ~ -80 Pa). This reduces fugitive dust emissions by more than 40%.

Main Dust Removal Equipment

1. Cyclone separator

   Removes particles larger than 20 μm with a separation efficiency exceeding 92%.

2. Bag filter system

   Adopt coated polyester filter bags with a basis weight of at least 550 g/m². Control the filtration wind speed within 0.8–1.2 m/min. A pressure difference alarm shall be configured; the automatic cleaning program will start when the filter resistance exceeds 1500 Pa.

Terminal Dust Containment Measures

1. Air curtain isolation device

   Install an air curtain barrier at the working station. When the wind speed reaches 0.7 m/s or higher, it can effectively block over 90% of dust diffusion.

2. Personal protective equipment

   Operators shall wear KN95 respirators complying with GB2626-2019 standard, whose actual measured filtration efficiency must be higher than 95%.
